Athens County Public Libraries recently issued the following announcement.
Monday, April 11, 2022
7:00pm - 8:00pm
"This companion presentation to my April exhibit seeks to raise questions about the future of the Hocking River while offering insight into both the current conditions of the river corridor and the history of human (and more-than-human) habitation of Athens and the Hocking River Valley.
"For two years, I have been conducting fieldwork along the Hocking, gathering observations, ecological data, and photo documentation in support of a master's thesis in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia. I firmly believe that people are moved to protect the places they love, and that thoughtful, ecologically sensitive design can help people see the places we live within and alongside as beautiful, surprising, valuable, and worthy of care. Excerpts from this body of research, presented in text, historical image, and photographs, serve to highlight the Hocking River's rich history, impressive biodiversity, and life-giving resources." -- Sarai E.
